Drawing Die Design

The design process of Lemurian Legend went through many iterations. This is because ideas for improvement kept coming up. I'm going to use to post to list just what these changes are.

A drawing of the Sunken Ruins. Nothing has changed here. I just drew this to remind myself of the new creative I’ve put into New Atlantis. Namely, the black butterflies. Whenever you find a corpse on New Atlantis, you’ve bound to find these butterflies fluttering around it.

The jail cells located inside the colosseum. Not much to talk about here. It’s just a sketch to remind me that criminals are locked inside the colosseum, then thrown onto the arena to engage in bull fights. The spectators place bets on how long they think the thug will survive.

The ice coffins are located at the entrance of the Bronze Sector. Inside the coffins are dead sunkens who have tried to rebel. The Atlanteans treat it as an artwork. The coffins act as a warning to the sunkens. They are not welcome in the inner sectors.

Next is the new robe for Omukan. Again, the previous one took on that bull motif, which I didn’t like. This one purely follows the sunkens’ design, with the wavy sleeves and circular shapes. The collar looks like wings, which is a pleasant surprise.

Here is the new version of the translator. I’ve decided that the bull design was too cheesy. This version is supposed to resemble a water drop. The circles match the designs of other sunken related things. As a neat bonus, they also look like bubbles, which go with the underwater theme.

The new Golden Tunnel. Since the Atlanteans liked sharp geometries, the circular hatch wasn’t appropriate. I immediately wanted to give the hatch a diagonal shape, but wait, wouldn’t that mean the tunnel would be tilted? It would be hard to travel on foot, then. Hold on, that’s exactly what the Atlanteans would want. They wish to discourage the sunkens from roaming to places where they didn’t belong. On the other hand, the Atlanteans traverse this tunnel inside their floating automobiles, so they had no need to worry.

Since the Atlanteans trapped the sunkens in ice coffins, I figured it’d be cool if that was their primary method of attack in combat. Before, they had the Viper Rifles, which fired corrosive acid. The gun’s design can remain the same, but instead of spilling acid, perhaps it can expel chemicals that freezes flesh upon impact. In that case, it wouldn’t be inappropriate to rename the gun to Frostbite.

So, now the Atlanteans use ice to attack. Their designs should reflect this. As we know, their costumes are largely in gold. In addition, they could also have traces of glittering silver. That sounds like a nice combination.

Okay, so the Atlanteans use ice, and the sirens use water. Those are a bit too similar. Or rather, if anyone can use water, it should be the sunkens. The sirens need some changing. Alright, the sirens only eat people who are unconscious, but still alive. If their victims get flooded, they would die. The sirens need another method of trapping their prey. Instead of puking water, maybe they can spill a sticky substance that isn’t too different from a spider web. Their victims would be ensnared, but they would not die. The sirens will then drag their meal back into their hideout. This allowed me to determine the interior of Pegasus Peak. The ground is filled with the sticky substance left by the sirens. Mummified victims dangle from the ceiling, waiting to be eaten. A lot of them have already been consumed. If you break open the webbing, all you’ll find are bones.
