One of the primary reasons for my changes were driven by my needs to carry several long rifles of different configurations and lengths and many boxes of ammo, hearing protection et al to the rifle range out a ways on my ranch in upstate NY. Additionally, I wanted the flexibility to carry other gear and not compromise the looks of my ride but actually enhance it at the same time.
I searched the web and outdoors stores like Cabela’s, Bass Pro shops, ATV rack suppliers, JC Whitney, and realized there were many many choices. What I found in my survey was that there are racks from Moose, Pro-Armor, other no names and Cycle country. They range from flat out ugly( ATV adapted to UTV or something like that ..Bulky, flimsy, no dry storage capability and those with NO eye to design what so ever. I think the worst I saw was actually bolted through the hood.. WHAT? Are you kidding me? The plastic hood would not support my dog let alone a rack and then gear. Overall , Seizmik stood out above all (AGAIN) as they have the most racks out there from a single vendor with racks that are utility(straight away utility) Hybrid(includes brush guard) and exo-cage that is pure sport and function combined. I realized trying to maintain the look I desired was going to be difficult as I wanted either a chromed, or Aluminum rack as that would look best on my Rhino. So I reviewed the available racks and looked em over for design, quality, ease of installation and access to under the hood etc. So like most folks I hopped on the web and read reviews, downloaded manuals where I could and probed other users as to what experiences they had when selecting a utility rack from the few blogs I could find about racks. For certain I decided I did not want a traditional “utility’ type looking rack but wanted the utility capability and capacity but again most important to me was looks in the end. As I said previously most racks lacked either engineering
At the end of my search I selected the Seizmik Pre Runner bumper and exo-cage gave me the best of all I was looking for with additional features. The ‘T6 aluminum racks and bumper have an available water and dust resistant ‘flight bag’, Seizmik lights to mount behind an included guard that really sets off the looks of the bumper.
I ordered my new toys and in just a few short days the products arrived well packaged and without damage ready for installation. Now all I needed was time off from work and family obligations to play. Opening the package I was impressed with the products packaging and impressive finish and most of all how little they weighed. I think the packaging weighed more than the product. WOW.
While I was test fitting my new additions to the Rhino I realized that I may have a slight fitment problem. I have Yamaha fender flares installed on my Rhino and did not know if it would fit. I gave it a go and it seemed it would fit and thought maybe I should call Seizmik to find out if they took flares into consideration and I should have known that of course they made provision in width for some level of fender flares and extensions. Man these guys thought of it all. I am always impressed when I talk to their folks and the level of customer service they provide even on the small things.
I began the installation of the Pre Runner bumper and was again amazed at its simplicity in installation and how little time it actually took. Again more time gathering tools and getting ready than the actual install. I was amazed at the perfect fit and impressively done perfect polished aluminum construction and finish. The welds are absolutely perfectly drawn, exacting bends and overall fit and function to be installed. Now that I am overly impressed with the bumper I needed to get to the exo-cage asap as I cannot wait to see how easy it is and how good it just HAS to look. Before I leave the bumper however let me not overlook the fact that I have the Yamaha winch and mount and all of it just installed super easy and without issue. The other thing I want to mention is that I also installed the Seizmik Fog / Driving lights during this process. One more time Seizmik has not only done their homework but delivered a product that fits the need and functional requirements for lights and additionally not only keeps them out of the way but provide the light where you need it! The kit was perfectly delivered with the needed harness, true plug and play and one more time looks awesome as it is completely integrated into the bumper and protected by a mesh screen that is open enough to allow the light to get where it needs to go. Nicely compliments the bumper and overall quality design and product from Seizmik. So being one for one I am moving on to the exo-cage.
As I began the Exo-c age installation I again had some brief concern that the flares may be of issue but literally the installation took 20 minutes at best and with a few minor adjustments it was on and fit exactly as I had hoped. Once again the quality and product fit exactly as I had hoped. The design matches and compliments the body lines of the Rhino completely. The welds and manufacturing are flawless and the finish .. well what can I say it is again Perfect!..
Now for the real test: Trail TRIAL: Loaded it up with rifles, pistols and flight bag full of ammo and took long trail ride to shooting range and bunker. Rack handled the weight extremely well. Guns are not bad alone but adding a flight bag full of hundreds rounds of ammo and other toys puts a few pounds on the rack overall. There were no signs of deflection or stress on the rack. The exo cage handled the job with ease and was ready for more than I gave it. Bumper and rack together make a great combination. No vibration or any issues in flight so to speak.
In summary, the Seizmik Pre Runner bumper and Exo Cage are an amazing addition to my Rhino. I am again more than contented with the overall fit and finish of the gear. Each of the welds are perfectly done. The bars in the rack align perfectly within their own design and then line up well with the Rhino lines. I was also very satisfied with access to my underhood area and all items. The rack simply folded back and hood popped up as normal. While the rack and bumper come steel I selected the T6 aluminum as it is exactly the right product for my Rhino. Although I wanted the aluminum I was concerned about it at the same time especially for a bumper. However in the end it proved to be the best match for my requirements and overall incredibly hard metal with a terrific finish. I could not be more pleased with my decision to add a couple more Seizmik products to my rig. I am not sure what I could do next.. but I think the windshield and lights will be next. I really wish they had an aluminum tube type bumper to match.
